Getting the Walls Right
Wall Insulation pays off best when the studs are bare: an addition, a gut remodel, a garage being turned into a room, or a new build. At that stage spray foam can fill every cavity, seal the gaps around outlets, windows and plates, and be inspected before the drywall closes it in. Doing it later almost always means compromises.
Open walls
In exposed stud bays we spray open-cell foam where air sealing and sound are the goal, or closed-cell where more R-value has to fit in the depth of a 2x4 wall. Both seal the cracks that batts leave around wiring and boxes. If you are adding a room in McKinney, check the code edition in force: the city's inspections page says the 2024 IRC and 2024 IECC, with amendments, were approved on October 1, 2025, and the city's summary of 2024 IECC changes lists R-0 plus R-12 continuous insulation as one option for wood-framed walls in Zone 3A. Your builder or designer sets the path; we install to it.
Closed walls
In a finished house, spraying foam into closed walls is not a simple job. Ordinary spray foam expands too hard to inject behind drywall. Closed walls can sometimes be dense-packed with cellulose or injected with a product made for the purpose through small holes, which are then patched. Whether that is worth it depends on what is in the wall now, how the wall is built and what the exterior is made of. We will look and tell you straight.
Garage walls and shared walls
Walls between the garage and the house, and walls around a bonus room over the garage, are frequent weak spots in North Texas homes. When those are open for any reason, foam them. A shared wall that leaks garage air into the house is a comfort problem and an air quality problem.

How Wall Work Runs
1. Look at the walls
We check framing depth, wiring, what is in the cavities now and how the exterior is built.
2. Match the plan
For additions, we confirm the R-value path your plans call for before quoting.
3. Install
Foam or dense-pack goes in, trimmed flush where drywall will follow.
4. Inspection ready
Open walls are left ready for the insulation inspection before they are closed.

Wall Insulation Questions
Can you spray foam inside existing walls without tearing them out?
Standard spray foam needs open cavities. Closed walls can sometimes be dense-packed or injected through small holes, depending on how they are built. We check before recommending it.
Open cell or closed cell for a 2x4 wall?
Closed-cell packs more R-value into a shallow cavity, while open-cell costs less and dampens sound. The choice depends on your plan's R-value target and budget.
Do I need an inspection before drywall?
For permitted additions and remodels, the insulation is normally inspected before it is covered. We leave the walls ready for that.
Is wall insulation worth it if my attic is thin?
Fix the attic first in most McKinney houses. Walls make the most sense when they are already open for another reason.
